S T A T E M E N T

As an interdisciplinary artist coming from a background in political studies, I rely on visual cues to recognise ambiguity in forms, languages and ethics of representation.

Creating functional redundancies and repetitions as elements of endless analysis, I question the structures of dominance by combining different artistic techniques, primarily painting and drawing, but also printing techniques and stop-motion animation. Presenting the art process as an act of resistance against established structures of meaning, I investigate the relationship between social and political dynamics of power and the creation of cliché.

Finding connections with the work of William Kentridge and Marlene Dumas, my practice lies in political art: an art -and politics- in which Knowledge is deconstructed and the dynamics of power are understood through the lens of history, iconic representations and stereotypes.
